How to run your account.
This is the walkthrough for the things you manage yourself: the login, the box, DNS, domains, billing, tickets, and IT appointments. The contract is still the Terms. Questions that aren’t in here: write us or [email protected].

Account
Open accountCheckout for hosting, design, branding, and retainers needs an account. IT appointments can be booked with just a name and email. Guest checkout is off on purpose so the box, snapshots, and invoices live on one login.
- Create an account from the person icon in the header, or from Sign up.
- Confirm the email we send. Checkout stays locked until that lands. Check junk if it is slow, then use “Send confirmation again” on the account page.
- Open your account anytime from the same person icon.
What you can change
- Name and phone — Profile at the bottom of the account page.
- Password — Current password plus a new one, at least 8 characters.
- Email — That is the login. Write [email protected] if it has to change.
Log out returns you to the main site. It does not cancel hosting or an appointment.
Sites
Hosting plansEvery hosting plan is a private container, not a shared bunk. Account → Sites is the board for each box.
- Temporary URL — If you skipped a domain, the box has an address ending in
.host. Use that until a name is hung on it. - Open site — Loads the live hostname. Give DNS a few minutes after you point a new name.
- 30-day rolling backups — Daily copies on every plan. Nothing extra to turn on.
- Manual snapshot — “Take a manual backup” when you want a known-good copy before an update.
- Vault — Paid add-on if you want 90 days or a year of rolling copies. Same billing interval as the box.
- Domain only — A name without a box yet. Add hosting later and we hang it on that name.
Monthly is the default. Yearly is 10% off the monthly rate. Cancel from billing or by writing us — the current term is not prorated after the first-term window in the Terms.
DNS is how a name finds the box. You almost never type an IP. The host to point at is sites.pixcel.solutions.
Two setups
Pixcel holds the name
We registered it, or you transferred it here. Nameservers are Cloudflare’s pair (listed on the site card). Edit records under the site → DNS. Names we register are pointed at Pixcel for you.
You keep the registrar
The name stays at GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google, and so on. There is no Cloudflare zone on the site card. Change records at that registrar, not in Pixcel.
Point the site at Pixcel
- If Pixcel holds the name: open the site → DNS → Point this name at Pixcel. That sets the site records for the root name and
wwwto a CNAME of sites.pixcel.solutions. - If you keep the registrar: CNAME
wwwto sites.pixcel.solutions. For the root name (yourstudio.comwith no www), use ALIAS, ANAME, or CNAME flattening to that same host if the registrar offers it. - Wait. Most changes show in minutes; some caches take up to 24 hours.
Do not create an A record to an IP we have not given you. Do not point the name at a home connection. Mail (MX) and verify (TXT) records can sit next to the site records — pointing the site does not wipe those unless they collide with the names being updated.
Record types you can add
| Type | Name | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| CNAME | www or @ |
Point a hostname at sites.pixcel.solutions or another host. This is the usual site record. |
| A | @ or a host |
An IPv4 address. Skip this unless we asked you to set one. |
| AAAA | @ or a host |
An IPv6 address. Same rule as A. |
| TXT | @ or the host they give you |
Domain verify, Google / Meta / Apple, SPF. Paste the value they give you, quotes and all if they include them. |
| MX | @ |
Mail. Priority and host come from Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Fastmail, and the like. The website CNAME does not replace MX. |
Add or delete a record
- Account → Sites → open DNS on that name. You only get this editor when the name is on Cloudflare (we registered it or the transfer’s nameservers are live).
- To add: pick the type, set Name (
@for the root, orwww, or the host they asked for), paste the value, Add record. - To remove: Delete on that row. Do not delete records you do not recognize if mail or verify still has to work.
Nameserver (NS) and SOA rows are hidden on purpose. If the site card says the name is not on Cloudflare yet, either wait a minute after a new registration, finish the transfer nameserver step, or edit DNS at the registrar you kept.
Domains
Search a nameHosting and domains each work without the other. A box can launch on a temporary URL. A name can sit here with no box yet.
Register
If the search says available, add it at Cloudflare cost. First year is due at checkout. Once it is registered it is not refundable. We hang it on Pixcel for you.
Keep your registrar
Add the name as “I already own it.” Point DNS yourself (see DNS). Pixcel is not the registrar. Renewals stay with them.
Transfer to Pixcel
Move the registration so we become the registrar. See Transfers for the full walkthrough, including the handling fee.
Transfers
Start a transferA transfer moves the domain registration from GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google, and the like onto Pixcel (Cloudflare Registrar). After it finishes, you renew with us and DNS lives in your account.
What you pay
- Cloudflare at cost — for most gTLDs (.com, .net, .org) this adds one year from the current expiration. That is the registrar’s price, not a Pixcel markup.
- Pixcel handling $15.00 — covers adding the zone, nameserver email, walking the auth code, and retries if the old registrar stalls.
Your steps
- On Hosting, search the name you already own. Choose Transfer to Pixcel (not “keep my registrar”).
- Check out. Account required, email confirmed.
- We create the Cloudflare zone and email you two nameservers. They also show on Account → Sites.
- At the old registrar: unlock the name (remove transfer / registrar lock /
clientTransferProhibited). - Set nameservers to that exact pair. Wait until the zone is active — often a few hours, sometimes up to a day.
- Request an authorization / EPP / auth code. Paste it on Account → Sites. We never email it back and never show it again.
- Approve the email from the old registrar if they send one. Most transfers finish in 5–7 days; they can take five days to release.
What we do
- Hosting, if you ordered it, is stood up immediately. It does not wait on the transfer.
- Once nameservers are active and the code is in, we submit the transfer to Cloudflare.
- When Cloudflare has the name, we point DNS at Pixcel and mark the transfer complete.
ICANN can block a transfer if the name was registered or transferred in the last 60 days. Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, and similar builders sometimes cannot transfer out directly — hop through a regular registrar first. .uk uses an IPS tag of CLOUDFLARE instead of an auth code. Handling and registrar cost are not refundable once we have submitted the transfer.
Billing
Your billing- Checkout — Account required, email confirmed, Terms and Privacy checked. Card is Stripe.
- Orders — Account → Orders. Status, total, and the domain if there is one.
- Invoices we send — Account → Billing, with a Pay link when it is open. These are the invoices from the shop, not only the Stripe receipt.
- Card on file — After a checkout, Manage payment method opens Stripe’s billing portal for the card and tax invoices from Stripe.
- Hosting — Monthly or yearly. Yearly is 10% off; pick 1–5 years. One to three years auto-renew at that length. Four and five years are prepaid.
- Design, brand, hours — One-time. Prepaid hours sit on the account until they are used.
Prices are USD. Failed payments can pause a box. Refunds follow the Terms — write us before a chargeback.
Tickets
New ticketHosting, design, branding, and anything that is not a timeslot go through tickets. That is the contact form when you are writing in, and Account → Tickets after it exists.
- Open a ticket from Contact. You get email when we reply.
- Reply on the ticket page. A reply on a closed ticket reopens it.
- Mark resolved when you are done.
Do not book IT here. Do not paste passwords, auth codes, or card numbers into a ticket. Weekdays, 9–5 Eastern is when we answer; after-hours is an add-on on a booked job, not a hotline.
Appointments
Book IT helpIT is the calendar, not a ticket. Account → Appointments lists what you have on the books.
- On-site — Enter a ZIP on IT Solutions. Inside 50 miles, book a visit. Labor is hourly with a one-hour minimum. An adult has to be there. No separate trip fee.
- Remote — 30-minute blocks, no mileage limit. Download TeamViewer QuickSupport from TeamViewer before the window. You click Allow; you can disconnect. You type your own passwords.
- Cancel — 24 hours ahead is free. Inside 24 hours or a no-show, the minimum increment is due.
A booking estimate is not a card charge. The invoice follows time actually used. Parts and licenses are extra with your OK.
